CHICAGO GAINS IN DESTINATION TRAVEL RANKINGS


CHICAGO, IL --NOVEMBER 12, 2007 -- Travelers and travel publications from across the U.S. and overseas are taking serious note of Chicago’s world-class appeal.  From its delectable dining to its family-friendly attractions, Chicago has received numerous awards over the last year praising the city as a premier visitor destination.  

2007

Chicago ranked #1 among Top 25 cities for a “business/meeting trip that's also fun” in the Headline News, Travel + Leisure and CNN.com America’s Favorite Cities poll.
Chicago awarded bronze ranking for “Favorite Domestic Destination” by readers of Out Traveler in the third annual Readers’ Choice Awards.

Chicago ranked #3 among Top 10 cities in the U.S. and Canada by readers of Travel & Leisure magazine for its 2007 World’s Best Award.

Chicago boasts more AAA five diamond restaurants than any other city in the nation -- Alinea, Arun’s, Avenues, Charlie Trotter’s, Everest, Seasons and Tru.

Five-diamond restaurant, Alinea, ranked “Best Restaurant in America” by Gourmet magazine

Millennium Park ranked #1 and North Michigan Avenue #2 in a Priceline.com study of the Top 50 Destinations for summer 2006

Chicago ranked “Top 2006 U.S. Destination” by Orbitz.com

Millennium Park received the 2006 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Honor Award for Regional and Urban Design. AIA called the Park “the most beautifully executed new urban public space in America . . . It’s a masterpiece of urban ingenuity and creativity.”
